This is the inaugural post of Biblical Masculinity, a site dedicated to developing and encouraging men to develop within themselves the principles and values outlined within the Word of God.
We live in a world that hates God. In his Word, Jesus warns us that if we love Him and follow his commands, we will also be despised by the world. It is now the year 2020, and the very idea of being a man, in all of the ways that God created us to be, is directly under attack by modern culture. Aggression must be neutralized, leadership subdued, courage tranquilized, and intellect suppressed. Men have been neutered, all but literally, and yet they push to cross that line as well. Society, and what we as Christians believe to be the principalities of darkness, have manipulated men into permitting and perpetuating weak, watered-down, sedated masculinity, that is good for nothing else but the creation of hardship, crisis, and adversity.
Our challenge to this weak and neutered standard comes directly from the Word and from the historical figures of the Judeo-Christian faith. There are countless examples of masculinity in the Bible. Men of virtue and gravitas that provide the archetypes for how we ought to live, and plenty of men that serve as warnings for how we ought not to. We will be looking at both sides of the coin.
By no means do I want to approach these subjects from a place of arrogance, as though I have attained such an honor to be considered like these men of God. I do not claim to be a subject matter expert in any of these fields. On the contrary, I too am in the process of being sanctified by the knowledge and wisdom of God, through his Word and through the knowledge of other wise and godly men.
I consider all of you brothers who read these words and decide to stand in opposition to the world and these new normative standards of masculinity. Let us look together and study the Scriptures to understand what it means to be men of God. Let us not conform to the patterns of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of our minds, so that we may test and approve what God's will is. His good, pleasing, and perfect will.
See you out there.
Moses
UPDATE:
We will be hosting a weekly podcast as well, and hope to provide valuable insights from other giants of the Christian faith, so that you may glean wisdom from those that currently walk among us who emulate certain characteristics of biblical masculinity. More to come on that. Peace be with you.
Excellent! This is a great page and a wonderful subject matter that is gravely needed in this society!
